3 Characteristics Of The Aussiedoodle

Posted on: 2 November 2021

Aussiedoodle puppies are a mix between an Australian shepherd and a poodle. The poodle parent is generally a standard size poodle. A crossbreed like an Aussiedoodle generally carries the traits of both parental breeds, but generally runs a lower risk to have the drawbacks of the parents, especially when it comes to health issues. If you are interested in an Aussiedoodle, you may be interested in knowing what their traits are. You don't want to get a dog that won't fit in with your family and your lifestyle, because neither you nor the dog is going to be happy.

Temperament

Aussiedoodles tend to be really friendly and outgoing dogs. An Aussiedoodle generally doesn't think that anyone they ever meet is a stranger, which means that they may want to jump on people when the dog meets them. You will have to make sure that you train the dog well so that they are friendly but well mannered. Training is going to be important when it comes to an Aussiedoodle anyway because they can be stubborn and want to have their own way. The sooner you start training them, the better off you are going to be.

Intelligence

Both parent breeds are very smart, with poodles being rated as one of the most intelligent dog breeds. That means that Aussiedoodles are smart dogs. Because they are smart dogs, you are going to have to do things that will help keep their intellect engaged because a bored dog can be a destructive dog. One thing you can do to help keep your dog engaged and interested is to get puzzle toys that will dispense treats when your dog uses them. Doing that can also help keep your dog from eating too quickly and help keep the dog at a healthier weight.

Energy

Aussiedoodles are high-energy pets. They aren't going to be happy to sit around on your couch all day long. Your puppy might want to cuddle, but only after they have worn themselves out. Part of that energy level is going to come from the Australian shepherd lineage. They are very high energy, and Australian shepherds like to herd anything and everything, and the Aussiedoodle has some of those same instincts, so make sure that you doing what you can to wear them out daily.

If you are thinking about getting a new puppy, and an Aussiedoodle is the breed you are looking for, then make sure that you are aware of their characteristics before you get one. For more information about Aussiedoodle puppies, contact a local breeder.
